Psychological Services

GPS offers comprehensive diagnostic evaluations and behavior support services for adults and children with developmental disabilities. Its plans follow a least restrictive model of treatment and focus on the use of Positive Behavioral Supports to make meaningful changes in the lives of people served. It views the “whole Person” when designing Behavior Plans and uses interventions that address multiple areas of need such as environment, communication, social, academic, sensory, etc.

Behavior supports services and evaluations are provided by experienced clinicians who utilize diagnostic instruments considered as the “gold standard” in the field of behavior intervention. The evaluations identify individuals’ goals, strengths and needs; provide an understanding of their intellectual potential; help in the development of a behavior support plan; and offer recommendations for effective strategies and support services.

The members of GPS’ Behavior Team work in collaboration with families, programs’ staff, and individuals’ circle of support to develop Behavior Support Plans tailored to meet their specific needs.  They also assist in development and review of data collection procedures to monitor the effectiveness of behavior plans.

GPS staff also provides behavioral supports at the individuals’ family home.  An initial screening is conducted to identify needs, provide a general overview, define target behavior and assign data collection. Screening can be conducted over the phone or in person to gather as much information possible to ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment.  Families are presented with the options of seeking a full Functional Behavioral Assessment (FBA) with behavioral support plan or informal behavioral strategies.

Our team of Board Certified Psychologists, and Psychotherapists provide integrated services for children, adolescents, adults, families, and organizations.
